TAG Heuer is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its iconic Carrera model by introducing two new watches that fuse modernity with performance. The Carrera model was inspired by the Carrera Panamericana race held in Mexico, which captured the imagination of young Jack Heuer, who was fascinated by the event’s daring speeds and dangerous roads. He named a new line of wristwatch chronographs after the race, and the TAG Heuer Carrera was born.
In celebration of the Carrera’s milestone anniversary, TAG Heuer has launched two new models: the Carrera Chronograph and the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon. Both watches have undergone a redesign to improve their form and function, featuring stainless steel cases with sapphire crystals that have a subtle curve, allowing them to be read from a range of angles.
Other design updates include new pushers and calfskin leather straps. The Carrera Chronograph comes in two versions: a sleek black and silver “reverse panda” dial inspired by coveted ’60s-era Heuer models, and a signature blue face with a deep blue calfskin leather strap.
The Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon is a first-of-its-kind for TAG Heuer, with a 42mm case and an aperture at 6 o’clock that showcases a tourbillon cage. It’s powered by the brand’s in-house tourbillon movement, the TH20-09, with a 65-hour power reserve. The watch features deep azure blue subdials, vivid orange detailing over each hour marker, and a triangular seconds hand.
The non-tourbillon watches are equipped with an improved Heuer 02 movement called TH20-00, evolved for advanced operation, featuring an oscillating weight with bidirectional winding and elevated finishings.
TAG Heuer’s new Carrera “Glassbox” models pay homage to its past while forging ahead with the brand’s future. Both watches come with a five-year warranty and can be purchased from the official website starting in April 2023. Whether you’re a trendsetter, celebrity or watch enthusiast, these new TAG Heuer Carrera models are sure to impress.
