The recent “Alec Bradley acquisition” by the Scandinavian Tobacco Group is making headlines. In 1996, Alan Rubin founded Alec Bradley, which has since flourished into a premier cigar company. Alan’s sons, Alec and Bradley Rubin, later joined the firm, introducing their own cigar brands like Alec & Bradley.

Some of Alec Bradley’s popular brands include Prensado, Kintsugi, Alec Bradley Double Broadleaf, Fine and Rare, and Black Market. The effects of the recent buyout by STG on these brands are still uncertain. STG has plans to welcome Alec Bradley’s 30 staff from the US and Canada. Where General Cigar Co. or Forged Cigar Co. will distribute Alec Bradley products remains undecided.

Niels Frederiksen, CEO of Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S, said, “Buying Alec Bradley is a significant move towards our goal of being the top global leader in cigars. This purchase lets us add more premium cigars to our collection, both in the US and globally. It will benefit our shareholders and cigar lovers. We aim to bring fresh excitement to the handmade cigar world using the Alec Bradley brand.”
