To commemorate the 80th Monaco Grand Prix, TAG Heuer is expanding the esteemed Monaco range by unveiling a captivating collection of new Monaco chronograph timepieces. These remarkable additions feature a first-of-its-kind skeleton dial within the Monaco series. By incorporating this element from the TAG Heuer Carrera into the Monaco editions, the brand establishes a seamless connection between its modern designs and the timeless silhouettes of the past.
The original Monaco prototype quickly captivated the industry with its groundbreaking case design, striking blue dial, and bold chronograph functions. Paired with the Calibre 11, it became a reliable companion for those drawn to daring aesthetics. Building upon this success, TAG Heuer introduced a new interpretation of the Monaco Chronograph in the 1970s, featuring the legendary “Dark Lord” with a matte black case and dial.
Over time, the Monaco watch evolved into a cultural symbol, undergoing various redesigns. In 1998, TAG Heuer reissued the Monaco through its Vintage series, incorporating contemporary updates. The beloved timepiece was reimagined once again in 2003, boasting a precise Calibre 360 movement. Today, the watch stands as one of the brand’s most esteemed and recognizable models, often released in exclusive limited-edition variations. In celebration of the Monaco Grand Prix and over 50 years of the beloved timepiece, three new captivating models have been unveiled.
These three novel models introduce a groundbreaking feature as the first-ever TAG Heuer collection to showcase the watch’s intricate mechanism. The modern skeleton design is available in three dial options—Original Blue, Racing Red, and Turquoise—each meticulously crafted with cutting-edge aesthetics to entice adventurous watch collectors. While paying homage to classic styles with borrowed colors and racing motifs, each new model honors TAG Heuer’s heritage. The turquoise skeleton model, for instance, reflects the refreshing blue hues of Monaco’s coastline, providing a vibrant and standout choice.
Powering these three new Monaco skeleton watches is the in-house Heuer 02 movement, incorporating a conventional column wheel and boasting an impressive 80-hour power reserve—the largest among chronographs in the industry. This remarkable feature is showcased through a transparent sapphire case back. The models also feature a durable and resistant sandblasted titanium Grade 2 39 mm case, suitable for any occasion. Additional aesthetic elements include Super-LumiNova® treatment to illuminate the indexes and hands, a date window, and an innovative embossed bi-material strap that combines rubber and leather for flexibility and comfort. These straps are available in both blue and black options, allowing for personalization and style.
