To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the renowned Ref. 765 AVI, also known as the Co-Pilot, Breitling introduces three new models that pay homage to the original timepiece. The collection includes the Classic AVI lineup, the Super AVI Mosquito Night Fighter watch, and a limited 1964 re-edition.
The Classic AVI series is available in five versions, each showcasing a dedicated color scheme inspired by legendary aircraft. Two variations of the P-51 Mustang are offered: one features a stainless steel case with a black dial and tonal counters, while the other boasts an 18k red gold case with contrasting counters. The remaining three models, housed in stainless steel cases, include the Tribute to Vought F4U Corsair with a blue dial, the Curtiss Warhawk with a military green dial, and the black-dialed Mosquito option with contrasting white counters.
The Classic AVI collection features a smaller 42mm case size compared to the original 46mm, yet retains the rugged design and upgraded details of the beloved reference. The GMT complication is replaced with Breitling’s Calibre 23 chronograph movement, offering a 48-hour power reserve and 10-bar water resistance. Each model comes with the choice of a pilot-inspired calfskin leather strap or a five-row stainless steel bracelet.
Inspired by the all-black two-seater Night Fighter 2 aircraft, the Super AVI Mosquito Night Fighter watch embraces an all-black design. It houses Breitling’s in-house B04 self-winding mechanical movement, providing an impressive 70 hours of power reserve, encased in a robust 46mm ceramic case.
Finally, Breitling presents a limited re-edition of the original 1964 Ref. 765 AVI, favored by star athletes and celebrities in its time. Faithfully replicating the iconic reverse-panda dial and black bezel, the timepiece is enclosed in a 41mm stainless steel case. Now powered by Breitling’s in-house B09 calibre, this watch is released as a limited edition with only 164 pieces available.
